1. MOUNT TAMBORINE
Take the local bus from Surfers Paradise Transit Centre located 30 meters from Moorings on Cavill or hire cheap car for day and drive there
More in the country than coast when you drive to this mountain village it is a great day outing for families.
Here you can go on hinterland and rainforest walks and bush hikes here, visit Cedar Creek Falls or for the more adventurous walk to Witches Falls and do the Sandy Creek Circuits.

If you are looking for shopping, the Mount Tamborine Village is the place to find antiques, artwork, cafes and boutique shopping amongst many other items including great handmade Australian Souvenirs.
2. TALLEBUDGERA CREEK
Walk up from Moorings on Cavill 100 meters to the G link light rail, get off at Pacific Fair and catch the bus to Tallebudgera Creek
This a beautiful calm water destination on the Gold Coast. Tallebudgera Creek goes out to the Pacific Ocean with the clear blue water of the creek it is very calm and inviting and safe for small children to splash around for many hours in very safe waters.

The beach is excellent with and lots of shade and you can swim, hire a kayak, picnic in this place like paradise. On the other side of shore of Tallebudgera Creek is the famous Burleigh Heads National Park and there are many secluded areas you will find here for BBQ and swim away for the people
3. BURLEIGH HEADS NATIONAL PARK
Walk outside the front door of Moorings on Cavill turn left and walk 100 meters to the G link light rail, get off at Pacific Fair and catch the bus to Tallebudgera Creek
Burleigh Heads National Park is lush green semi tropical rainforest outcrop on the Gold Coast is easy to access and has several walking trails. Send the kids on a scavenger hunt and see who can spot the most wild animals as there are many bush turkeys, birds and lizard that you can see.
You will see water dragons and other scaly lizards as well as kites and eagles and other feathered birds that take refuge in this beachside national park wildlife reserve.
4. NATURAL BRIDGE AT SPRINGBROOK + GLOW WORMS

Best you hire car and drive. You can park your car for FREE at Moorings on Cavill in our carpark. Just ask us for your free parking place
Located approx. 1.5 hours’ drive from Moorings on Cavill and Surfers Paradise, the Springbrook National Park is home to one of the most fantastic natural wonders in Queensland.
Here you can show the children the mini waterfall-chasers and explain to them a waterfall that goes underground to a glow-worm cave! Does nature get any more interesting than this activity for children to learn about our environment and the plants and animals that live in it?
Please note that the location is not suitable for prams but the walks and trail are easy most two- and three-year-olds who many this amazing experience. If you go here this will be an amazing experience and we know you will thank us for this information.
5. GOLD COAST REGIONAL BOTANIC GARDENS
Walk from Moorings on Cavill 100 meters up Cavill Avenue to the G link light rail and get off at Pacific Fair. Here you can catch the bus to Gold Coast Botanic Gardens
The Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens in Benowa is a great experiences for children with lots of birds in natural surrounds and nature for garden lovers.
Smell the roses in the huge rose garden and let the kids have fun touching the plants in the sensory garden. There is a butterfly garden full of amazing butterflies, a playground for kids and an off-leash area for the dog’s members of the family to run around.
6. CURRUMBIN ROCK POOLS
Take a short walk 100 meters up Cavill Avenue from your apartment at Moorings on Cavill. Go to the G link light rail and get off at Pacific Fair. Here you can catch the bus to Currumbin Rock Pools ( NOTE: Ask us at reception before you go as buses are not so regular to the pool)
When you need a break away from the beach but still want a place to cool off and let the kids have fun in the cool water then let them splash around in the Currumbin Rock Pools.
This was once a secret locals’ place but is now known as the best hinterland waterhole. Bring a picnic basket, relax in the shade of an Australian Gumtree, or just let the kids swim in the crystal clear mountain fresh water and wear themselves out.
